I look better than ever. A student of mine even told me the other day that I have Madonna arms.
I never ever thought someone would say that to me! This picture of me taken just a few weeks ago shows off the definition in my legs and arms and the strength, power and flexibility that I posses.
What you can’t see in this picture is how much I love my body.
This was not always the case. For so many years, I didn’t feel like my body was slender enough, long-legged enough, flat-bellied enough, etc.
I tried different diets and exercised religiously, but never really felt satisfied, no matter what size and shape I was.
Now I see that what I truly wanted was to feel good in my own skin, to go to the beach without worrying about how I look, to make love without being conscious of any body parts… In other words, I wanted to deeply LOVE and ACCEPT myself.
It wasn’t until I was pregnant that I truly felt right in my skin.
I found a whole new appreciation for my body’s ability to create and grow life. The irony was that I was waaaay bigger than I’ve ever been (twins, TWINS, y’all!).
After I gave birth, there were definitely moments that I felt fat, jiggly and unattractive. But after 9+ months of practicing powerful self-love, I just couldn’t go back to disliking myself.
I took all the practices I developed during the pregnancy and consciously and purposely focused on feeling confident, radiant, healthy and hot as hell!
And I can honestly tell you that I am now in the best shape of my life (even did a one-hand handstand this week – a dream for 12 years!!!!) and it’s not because of anything I’m doing (or not doing).
I eat whatever I want, whenever I want.
Some days tons of vegetables and green juices make it into my belly and other days I have ice cream for dinner.
I drink coffee with half-and-half almost daily (and laugh at all the times in the past when I convinced myself that I like my coffee black because I didn’t want the extra calories OR when I went on a raw food diet and shunned coffee completely).
I am more interested in noticing how certain foods make me feel. I love feeling light and powerful way too much to bog down my body temple with super heavy or processed food.
I do yoga, lift weights, take classes and walk only whenever I feel like and I take lots of rest days. I have no workout plan.
I have no idea how much I weigh because I threw out my scale years ago. The only measurement that matters to me now is how good I feel.
So how is that with so little planning, self-control and action that I have achieved what I had been hammering for all these years? Alignment, baby!
I used the principles of the Law of Attraction to manifest the kind of body I love to be in.
If I were to boil down the main idea behind effortless fitness and feeling good in my skin it would be to TRUST MY BODY.
When I pay attention to how certain ways of eating, moving, sleeping, interacting, etc. feel, then I am able to follow my inner guidance to feel better, lighter, more empowered and more aligned physically, emotionally and psychologically.
The side-effect of this alignment is a healthy, radiant, lean, toned body and looking and feeling like a HOT tamale!

Can’t wait to read your comments!
Lana, I’m right with you. I used to feel guiltily that I should be exercising more, drink less coffee, eat less carbs but no more. I also threw out my scale years ago because I know when I need to eat lighter because my body tells me. I know when I need to stop doing and go within because I can feel it. Now I know that the only thing I need to do at any given time if I don’t feel right is to go within and get back to my center and from that place, everything else comes. Thank you soul sister for being on the same page.
Yes, Silvia, coming back into the center and finding personal alignment is the ONLY and BEST solution every time! So simple, but not easy, right?!
LOVE this, Lana. I completely agree with your approach to eating and staying fit. Do what feels good and aligns with who you are. Being in tune to what your body needs is key. Thanks for the great reminder!
Thank you, Shana! After struggling for so long to love myself and live an enjoyable life, I am so grateful to be where I am and to share that with others!
gorgeous, Lana!!!
we have more than you think in common: I drink coffee every morning (like a giant mag), I eat whatever I want,I don’t let my weight define me (I observe it as a scientist, something I teach women), it’s all in my “about” page anyway…. but here’s the thing: loving our bodies, no matter its size or shape is what matters…
Now keeping your body light: makes a perfect one-hand head stand!! 🙂
what an excellent reward!
If you’re up for it, I’d love to feature this piece as a guest post 🙂
xoxo
