So many people love to brag about working so hard. They wear hard work and struggle like a badge of honor.
Fighting obstacles. Pushing through the problems. Wrestling the challenges into the ground.
And they feel that they deserve success because of all the trials and tribulations that they’ve overcome.
But here is the truth: hard work doesn’t work.
Working hard is not enough to get you to your dreams. And it’s certainly not enough to help you reach your dreams and feel like it was worth it.
Many successful teachers and authors talk about working hard, the hustle, and that it doesn’t happen over night.
But that’s step two in their equation for success. The first step they all preach is finding something you love to do.
Finding something you love and focusing on it until you’re blue in the face is a different kind of ‘hard’. It’s more a labor of love instead of hard labor.
There’s a difference between working hard and working smart.
In today’s video I want to talk about what working smart is and what it takes to make those big dreams happen.
(Please put on headphones if you have little ones around as this video contains adult language).
“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” ~Confucius
What works is finding something you love and doing it for the sake of doing it. Because it hones your craft. Because it enriches your life. Because it inspires you.
And to let the successes and accomplishments that follow be the cherry on top, not the main course.
Now I’d love to hear from you:
Do you agree with this perspective that hard work doesn’t work and alignment + focus is what working smart is all about?
Please share this video with your friends and colleagues. Let’s have this discussion about what it truly takes to achieve something worth-while. And how to enjoy the whole journey, not just the destination.
p.s. And help you leave stress and struggle in 2015, I’m doing a 10-day Ease Challenge! Let’s put the ‘Happy’ back into ‘Happy Holidays’ (and your life). Sign up here!
A great and timely reminder: Be in alignment with who you are and what you do. THANKS Lana
So glad T! xoxo
Right on Lana!! I totally agree with what you said in this video. It’s refreshing to hear someone express what I’ve always felt. You rock!!
I’m not holding back any more, Kim! Glad you resonate!
Lana as usual this was perfect timing. I love that you talked about the fact even when we do what we love we get s*** sandwiches. What lights me up fully is interviewing people on tv, radio or online and writing.
iPhone decided to send too soon! I must overcome my fear of generating income doing it and just fully do it trusting the Universe to bring the how of the income my way. At the moment I’m doing what you described about working long hours, stressed, exhausted and not focusing on my alignment. I am getting there for sure doing some of the stuff I love and need to let go of a few of my projects that don’t light me up thanks for the inspiration!
When you let go of the things that don’t light you up, you’ll feel such relief and surge of energy that you’ll become unstoppable, Linda! All the resources of this universe will flow to you freely and help you manifest anything that you desire! That’s the power of receiving!
RIGHT ON LANA! THATS THE SECRET, DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND THE REST WILL FOLLOW. Love Lana TV !!!!
Thank you Toni!!!!!
Agree! You spend most of your hours awake everyday working so you should definitely do something you love! The only difficulty….how do you follow your path of alignment and joy when you’re not sure what you love? When you don’t know what you love?
How awesome to go on a journey of discovery for what you most love – is that not the greatest goal any of us could have – to look for and find the song that makes our soul sing?! Seekers are finders, Angelica. It took me many years to hone in on what matters most to me and suits my mission, and looking back, I wish I would have enjoyed the search a bit more. 🙂
I was just thinking about this topic this week. Hard work takes a big toll on your life after some time. Your message is so true! Every time I’ve received a strong impulse to take an inspired action and I follow through, I have received so much more abundance back than hard work, whether it was a great opportunity or financial gain (twice I’ve received $1,000 for acting on an impulse which only required 1 hour of happy, easy “work”… It is incredible the power of acting on your alignment). I think more and more thought leaders like yourself will increase people’s awareness around this topic 🙂
So happy to hear that you’ve proven this to yourself Ayisha! Any other way is not leveraging the resources that are available to us.
Love this, Lana! I absolutely agree. I’ve been listening to Barbara Marciniak (who I love!) for the last couple days, and I really love what she said about putting down the hammer and nails and just allow and enjoy each desire that springs forth from within, and she talks about how activating the imagination in building and feeding these desires unlocks dormant parts of us and creates the physical manifestation of the fulfillment of our desires. We (humans) are powerful, beautiful, creative beings stretching and awakening! We are remembering who we are.
Yes, I totally agree with that perspective, Robin! And nothing feels better than remembering who we are and feeling the love and support of life around each specific thing that matters to us!
YES! This is exactly what I have been noticing in my own personal and business development. And I felt so alone. Thank you for sharing this message.
So glad the message resonated Emily!
